How to Use the PDF eSign Tool
Our PDF eSign tool lets you add legally-compliant electronic signatures to any PDF document entirely in your browser. No account, no software installation, and no file uploads to remote servers — your documents stay private on your device throughout the entire process.
Start by uploading a PDF file using the drag-and-drop zone or file browser. Your document will be rendered page-by-page in the built-in viewer where you can navigate between pages and zoom in or out. Next, create your signature using one of three methods: draw it with your mouse or finger on the signature pad, type your name and choose a cursive font, or upload an existing signature image.
Once your signature is ready, select it from the toolbar and click anywhere on the PDF to place it. You can drag to reposition and use the resize handle to adjust the size. Place signatures on multiple pages, add date stamps that auto-fill with today's date, or insert custom text fields for printed names, titles, or notes.
When you're satisfied with the placement, click Download Signed PDF to export your document. Signatures are permanently embedded in the PDF using pdf-lib, an industry-standard JavaScript library for PDF manipulation. The signed document can be opened by any PDF viewer and the signatures cannot be accidentally moved or removed by recipients.
The tool supports multiple signatures per document, multiple colors (black, blue, red, green, purple), undo functionality, and keyboard shortcuts for efficient signing workflows. It works on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices with full touch support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your PDF files are never uploaded to any server. The tool uses pdf-lib for PDF manipulation and pdfjs-dist for rendering — both run 100% client-side. Your documents remain completely private on your device.
Can I add multiple signatures to one document?
Yes. You can create multiple signatures using any combination of drawing, typing, or uploading, and place them on any page of your document. You can also add date stamps and text fields alongside your signatures.
What signature creation methods are available?
Three methods: draw your signature with a mouse or finger, type your name and choose from cursive font styles, or upload an existing signature image (PNG, JPG). All methods support multiple color options including black, blue, red, green, and purple.
Can I move or resize a signature after placing it?
Yes. Click any placed signature to select it. Drag to reposition it anywhere on the page, or use the corner handle to resize. Press Delete to remove a selected signature. You can also undo recent actions.
What file formats are supported?
Upload any standard PDF file. Signed documents are exported as standard PDF files that can be opened by any PDF viewer. Signatures are permanently embedded in the PDF — they cannot be accidentally moved or removed by recipients.
Does this work on mobile devices?
Yes. The tool is fully touch-optimized. You can draw signatures with your finger, tap to place them on pages, and drag to reposition. The interface adapts to smaller screens while keeping all functionality accessible.
